CARE

Light: Provide bright, indirect light or filtered partial shade. Avoid prolonged harsh direct sunlight, which can scorch the delicate fronds. An east-facing window or a bright location protected from strong afternoon sun works well.

Water: Keep the potting mix evenly moist, but never waterlogged. Maidenhair ferns are sensitive to drying out completely, so check the soil regularly and water when the surface begins to lose moisture.

Humidity: Rosy Maidenhair Fern performs best with moderate to high humidity. Higher humidity can help prevent the delicate leaflets from developing dry or crispy edges.

Soil: Use a rich, moisture-retentive but well-draining potting mix. A quality houseplant mix amended with perlite or other drainage material helps maintain moisture while allowing excess water to escape.

Temperature: Prefers warm conditions and should be protected from cold drafts and sudden temperature changes. Indoor temperatures around 60–80°F are generally suitable.

Fertilizer: Feed lightly with a balanced fertilizer during periods of active growth. Avoid excessive fertilizer, which can damage sensitive fern roots and foliage.

GROWTH & HABIT

Adiantum hispidulum grows from a slowly creeping rhizome and develops clumps of graceful, arching fronds. New foliage can emerge rosy pink or bronze before gradually changing to mature green, giving the plant much of its distinctive ornamental appeal. Its finely divided foliage and dark stems create the airy, delicate appearance associated with maidenhair ferns.
