Coral Cactus – Euphorbia lactea ‘Cristata’

Size6 Inch Pot

Our seasonal sale ends soon

Description

Coral Cactus is a grafted Euphorbia grown for its distinctive ruffled, fan-shaped crest. Despite its common name, it is not a true cactus. The crested Euphorbia lactea is grafted onto a compatible Euphorbia rootstock, creating the upright stem-and-crest form commonly sold as Coral Cactus. Crest shape and coloration vary naturally from plant to plant, making each specimen different.

Quick Facts

  • Botanical name: Euphorbia lactea ‘Cristata’ — grafted
  • Common name: Coral Cactus
  • Pot size: 6-inch nursery pot
  • Growth habit: Upright grafted succulent with crested, fan-shaped growth
  • Light: Bright light; some direct sun after acclimation
  • Water: Low; allow most of the potting mix to dry between waterings
  • Care level: Easy
  • Pet safety: Not pet friendly

Care

Light: Provide bright indoor light. Several hours of gentle direct sun can be beneficial, but plants should be acclimated gradually before receiving stronger sunlight.

Water: Water thoroughly and allow excess water to drain. Let most of the potting mix dry before watering again. Avoid keeping the roots or grafted stem consistently wet.

Humidity: Average indoor humidity is sufficient. Additional humidity is generally unnecessary.

Soil: Use a fast-draining cactus or succulent mix in a container with drainage.

Temperature: Prefers warm conditions and should be protected from frost and prolonged cold.

Fertilizer: Feed lightly during active spring and summer growth. Avoid heavy fertilization.

Growth & Habit

Coral Cactus is slow-growing. The crested top gradually widens and develops more folds and irregular ruffled growth over time. Mature size varies depending on the graft and growing conditions, but indoor specimens may eventually reach approximately 1–3 feet tall.

Pet Safety

Coral Cactus is not pet friendly. Euphorbia produces a milky latex sap that can irritate skin and eyes and is harmful if eaten. Keep the plant away from pets and children and wear gloves if cutting or handling damaged tissue.

After Delivery

Do not repot a freshly shipped plant for at least two weeks after delivery. Repotting during the Blackwater Plants guarantee period voids live plant guarantee coverage.
