Description

String of Turtles is a unique trailing houseplant known for its tiny round leaves that look like little turtle shells. Each leaf has green, silver, and patterned markings, giving the plant a detailed collector look while still staying compact enough for shelves, desks, hanging baskets, and small indoor spaces.

This plant is a great choice for anyone who wants something different from the usual trailing pothos or philodendron. Its delicate vines slowly trail over the edge of the pot, adding texture and movement without taking over the room.

Care Instructions:

Light: Bright, indirect light is best. Avoid harsh direct afternoon sun, which can fade or burn the leaves.

Water: Let the soil dry mostly between waterings. String of Turtles does not like staying wet, so avoid overwatering.

Soil: Use a well-draining houseplant mix. A chunky mix with added perlite or orchid bark works well.

Humidity: Average household humidity is usually fine, but it appreciates a little extra humidity in dry rooms.

Fertilizer: Feed lightly during spring and summer with a diluted houseplant fertilizer.

Pet Safety:

String of Turtles, also known as Peperomia prostrata or Trailing Peperomia, is listed by the ASPCA as non-toxic to cats and dogs. Still, pets should not be encouraged to chew on it, since eating any plant material can cause stomach upset.
