How We Ship
How We Ship
At Blackwater Plants, every order is packed by real growers who understand how live plants need to travel. Our goal is simple: get your plant to you healthy, secure, and ready to grow.
- Pre-Ship Plant Check
Before anything is packed, we inspect each plant for overall health, pests, damage, and soil moisture. We only ship plants we would be comfortable receiving ourselves.
If the plant needs water before shipping, we lightly moisten the soil. We do not soak plants before transit because overly wet soil can create more problems inside a box.
- Weather Check
Live plants are sensitive to extreme heat and cold, so we check the weather before shipping.
If temperatures are unsafe, we may hold the order for better shipping conditions. This helps prevent plants from sitting in a truck, warehouse, or mailbox during dangerous weather.
When needed, we may use protective packing materials or temperature packs to help reduce stress during transit.
- Protective Packing
Each plant is secured inside the box to reduce movement during shipping. We protect the pot, soil, and foliage so the plant is not bouncing around loose in the package.
Depending on the plant and pot size, we may use paper wrap, cardboard support, packing paper, sleeves, or other protective materials. Every plant is packed based on its size, shape, and how fragile the foliage is.
- Shipping Schedule
We usually ship early in the week to help avoid weekend delays with the carrier.
Once your order ships, you will receive tracking information by email. Most orders arrive within a few business days, depending on your location and the shipping service used.
During severe weather, holidays, or carrier delays, shipping times may vary.
- When Your Plant Arrives
Open your package as soon as possible. Carefully remove the packing materials and inspect your plant.
It is normal for live plants to look slightly tired after shipping. A little leaf bend, minor soil movement, or temporary drooping can happen during transit. Place the plant in the proper light, let it settle, and water only if the soil needs it.
We recommend waiting before repotting so the plant has time to adjust after shipping.
- If There Is a Problem
If your plant arrives damaged or unhealthy, contact us right away with your order number and clear photos of the plant and packaging.
We stand behind our plants and will work with you to make it right. Damage must be reported shortly after delivery so we can review the issue properly.
Shipping Live Plants Takes Extra Care
Plants are living products, and no two shipments are exactly the same. We pack each order carefully, watch the weather, and do everything we can to make sure your plant arrives in great condition.
