Plant Care Tips
Plant Care Tips
Healthy plants start with the basics: the right light, the right watering routine, and a little patience. Every plant is different, but these simple care tips will help most indoor plants settle in and grow well.
Light
Most tropical houseplants prefer bright, indirect light. Avoid strong midday sun unless the plant is known to handle direct light. Too much sun can burn leaves, while too little light can slow growth and cause weak, stretched stems.
Watering
Water thoroughly, then let the soil dry slightly before watering again. Do not water on a strict schedule without checking the soil first. Overwatering is one of the most common causes of root rot.
Soil and Drainage
Use a well-draining soil mix and make sure the pot has drainage. Plants sitting in soggy soil for too long can decline quickly.
Fertilizer
Feed during the active growing season with a balanced plant fertilizer. Most houseplants need less fertilizer during cooler months or slower growth periods.
Repotting
Repot only when the plant has outgrown its container or the soil is breaking down. After shipping or bringing a plant home, give it time to adjust before repotting.
Pet Safety
If you have pets, always check whether a plant is safe for cats or dogs before bringing it into your home. Some common houseplants can be toxic if chewed or eaten.
