Dracaena Magenta (Dracaena marginata ‘Magenta’), commonly called the Madagascar Dragon Tree, stands out with slender upright canes topped by tufts of sword‑like leaves edged in deep burgundy‑red. The striking contrast between the rich green centers and magenta margins brings a sculptural touch to modern interiors, offices and minimalist spaces. Its vertical habit and narrow footprint make it ideal for tight corners and tall accents. Dracaena Magenta is extremely adaptable and drought tolerant, thriving even when neglected; it is one of the most resilient indoor plants and a proven air‑purifying choice. Note, however, that all Dracaena species are toxic if ingested by pets or people.

**Light:** Bright, indirect light; tolerates moderate to low light but growth slows. Avoid prolonged direct sun to prevent leaf scorch.
• **Water:** Allow the top 1–2 inches of soil to dry before watering; Dracaena is drought‑tolerant and prone to overwatering, so water every few weeks and always drain excess.
• **Humidity & Temperature:** Average household humidity is fine; aim for 65–80°F and keep away from cold drafts below 55°F.
• **Soil & Feeding:** Plant in a well‑draining peat‑ or coco‑based mix with perlite. Fertilize lightly during spring and summer with a balanced liquid feed at half strength.
• **Growth:** Moderate grower; can reach 4–8 feet indoors over time with a narrow, upright habit.
• **Air Purifying:** NASA’s Clean Air Study ranks the Dragon Tree as an effective air purifier that absorbs volatile chemicals like xylene.
• **Toxicity:** Leaves contain saponins and are toxic to cats, dogs and humans if ingested. Keep out of reach of pets.
